Beginner's Guide: How to Use Your New Slush Machine

Laura Cowley |

Congratulations on your new slush machine purchase!

If you're seeking guidance on how to operate it, you've come to the right place. At Slush.co.uk we're experts in slush machines and can walk you through the process of using your machine for the first time.

Get to know your machine

To start off, we recommend familiarising yourself with the user manual and provided instructions thoroughly before beginning any slush making.
Your slush machine's control panel may feature various buttons and switches, depending on the number of bowls it has. Familiarise yourself with these components, including the main power switch, light switch, main freeze switch, gear motor switches, and individual bowl freeze switches. It's essential to test these functions with liquid in the bowls to avoid damage and understand their respective purposes.

Prepare the mixture

When you're comfortable with the machine, it's time to prepare your slush mixture. Achieving the correct syrup to water ratio is crucial for creating a delicious slush while maintaining your machine's optimal performance. We recommend a ratio of 6:1 for the perfect mix to avoid issues such as over-freezing.

Freezing Process

The freezing process depends on several factors such as ambient temperature, initial material temperature, and sugar content. Following the instructions, slush typically takes between half an hour to one hour to be ready for serving, so plan accordingly.

Maintenance

After serving your slush, it's important to clean your machine thoroughly. Turn off the machine, drain any remaining product from the bowls, and flush them with water until it runs clear. Then, fill the bowls with lukewarm water and detergent, leaving the solution to soak for 15 minutes.

Regular maintenance is key to keeping your slush machine in top condition. Aim to clean it this way once a week, and lubricate the machine twice weekly. Additionally, clean the condenser weekly for optimal performance.
